Elizabeth Scott Skype Author Visit

All right girls... Enough talk about sports!  Elizabeth Scott will be skyping with Montgomery Junior High students during one lunch period on October 10th!  Come by the library to sign up for one of the book clubs (Something, Maybe or Between Here and Forever) and reserve your spot for the Skype Author Visit.  Space is limited to 30 students!  Want to learn more about Elizabeth Scott?  Visit http://www.elizabethwrites.com/.

Pinch Hitter Book Club

Our first book club will begin the middle of September with Pinch Hit by Tim Green.  You can sign up for this book club during library orientation!  You can also enter your name in a drawing to be one of the first student's to read an advanced copy of Tim Green's newest book Unstoppable, which will not hit book stores until September 18th.
I am SO VERY EXCITED because I just received an advanced copy of Tim Green's newest book Unstoppable that is hitting your local book store on September 18th.  I will blog again once I have read it!  Until then, if you will be attending Montgomery Junior High for the 2012-2013 school year... October 9th will be a special day!  Tim Green is headed to our school for an author visit!
Insurgent, the sequel to Divergent, and the second book in a dystopian trilogy continues with the story of Beatrice Prior.  In this second novel by Veronica Roth, Beatrice is faced with many hard decisions as her world breaks out in war.  She begins to question everything and everyone around her.  Learn more about the heated romance between Tobias and Beatrice and read to find out if their love can withstand the chaos around them.

Dystopian Books

If you are a fan of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins then Divergent by Veronica Roth will "suit your fancy".  This story takes place in a Dystopian society in Chicago, IL.  Sixteen years old is the key age in this novel because once you turn 16, you must make a decision on which faction (society group) you will join and commit to for the rest of your life.   This decision does not come easy for Beatrice Prior and her test results are anything but normal.

Web 2.0 Tools Meet a 21st Century Classroom

Here is a list of Web 2.0 Tools that I think every educator should take a look at and pick and choose what will work for their students and compliment their current curriculum. WOW! Teacher Academy

Ok... so I began my day at a technology training called the WOW! Academy...It has reminded me that I need to keep up to date with my blog...I have read a ton of books since the last time I posted but finding the time to keep up with all these blogs and other social media sites is hard to do... I do want to say that as much as I preach that the book is ALWAYS better than the movie, I was not disappointed in The Hunger Games movie... I held a trivia contest in the library after the movie had been out for a week and my students went crazy. I now have 25 copies of Hunger Games and 19 copies of Catching Fire due to a wonderful parent donation and I still have a waiting list...
